Quick Problem Diagnosis

Not growing from all holes? Check humidity
Wilting mushrooms? Move from draughts
No second crop? Clean, flat cuts needed
Water pooling? Dab dry, reduce spraying

Kit Not Growing From All Holes

Growing Areas: Growing from only 1-2 holes won't affect total yield as mushrooms grown will just be larger and heavier.

The kit can naturally divert nutrition to the most favorable environmental locations. This is completely normal behavior. Important: Harvest mushrooms when ready - don't wait for other holes to catch up!

Saturated Compost Problem

Pooling water or excessive hydration prevents mushroom formation. If you see standing water in any holes:

  • • Dab pooling water with paper towel immediately
  • • Skip spraying for one day
  • • Reduce to once daily until new pins appear
  • • Return to twice daily when growth resumes

Kit Not Growing From All Holes?

New Growth Drying Out? It is quite likely one of the holes not growing has less favourable conditions, this could be draughts or proximity to high heat, the carrier bag method below could alleviate this.

Environmental Requirements

Maintain temperature between 14-21°C with 18-19°C being ideal. Keep away from draughts and direct air flow.

⚠️ Wilting Crops: Unfortunately won't recover - harvest them and fix the environment for next crop

Move to sheltered spot at 18-19°C and use carrier bag method if needed. Never keep in direct sunlight.

Signs You Need More Humidity

  • Mushroom edges curling or drying
  • Slow or stunted growth
  • Not all holes producing
  • Caps cracking or splitting

Wilting from low humidity / proximity to high heat or sunlight

Harvesting for Continued Crops

⚠️ #1 Cause of No Second Crop: Leaving too much stem blocks new growth!

Correct harvesting

Correct harvesting - clean, flat cut tight to compost surface

Harvesting Steps:

  1. Use sharp, clean knife
  2. Cut as close to compost as possible
  3. Leave flat, clean surface - no jagged stems
  4. Remove any leftover tissue

Carrier Bag Humidity Method

For dry environments or struggling kits, this simple method dramatically improves humidity:

Place kit in large clear plastic bag, 4-6 inches taller than box
Leave top completely open to prevent suffocation
Spray holes normally plus inside of bag once daily
Maintain temperature at 18-19°C

Bag method - note open top

Essential Checklist

Ideal temperature 18-19°COr always between14-21°C
Check for pooling water - dab dry immediately
Harvest with clean, flat cuts tight to compost
Away from heat sources, draughts, direct sun
Use carrier bag method if environment is dry
Spray twice daily unless water pooling occurs

Common Mistakes

Overwatering causes contamination
Temperature outside 14-21°C
Leaving stem stumps after harvest
Kit in Direct sunlight or near heat sources
