How to Cook Morel Mushrooms

Introduction

Morel mushrooms are one of the most sought-after wild mushrooms thanks to their unique honeycomb texture and deep, earthy flavor, not commonly seen in the supermarkets but rather high end restaurants. These can either be foraged for "fresh" Morel mushrooms but you will find the dried counterparts much more readily available online.

Cooking with morels can elevate any dish, whether you’re making a sauce to go with your comforting pork belly dinner, or a versatile sauce to go with steak.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to cook morel mushrooms properly, plus get a step-by-step recipe that combines pork belly, silky celeriac mash, and a luxurious morel sauce.

Why Morel Mushrooms Are Special

  • Unique flavor: Nutty, earthy, and slightly meaty.

  • Gourmet status: A seasonal delicacy prized by chefs.

  • Versatility: Pairs beautifully with pork, steak, and Pastas
