Why choose our kits?
What makes our mushroom kits different is that we do the hard work before your kit is dispatched. Each Black Pearl Oyster kit has already begun its growing journey at our Sussex farm, so the mycelium is established and thriving by the time it reaches you.
This approach removes the most unpredictable stage of mushroom cultivation. Colonisation is where contamination is most likely to take hold, and by completing this step in our controlled growing rooms, we can inspect every kit for health before it leaves the farm.
For you, it means no inoculation, no waiting weeks for colonisation and no guesswork. Your kit arrives ready to fruit, so all you need to do is follow the simple care instructions and enjoy the harvest.
Black Pearl Mushroom Growing Kit Information
Black Pearl Oyster Mushroom Growing Kit Information
Your Black Pearl Oyster kit arrives ready growing within an outer protective wrapper, which needs to be trimmed shortly after delivery. Cut and remove the top portion of the bag, then place the topsoil onto the log whilst standing on a dish or plate.

Cooking Tips
Black Pearl Oyster Mushrooms, (Pleurotus ostreatus x eryngii). A gourmet variety prized for its rich, savoury depth and dramatic dark caps. Always cook before eating.
Black Pearl oysters have a dense, meaty texture with a fuller flavour than many other oyster varieties. The caps hold their shape well during cooking and develop a satisfying chew. Saute with garlic and herbs, roast alongside root vegetables, or add to creamy pasta dishes, stews and pies. They are excellent torn into strips and pan fried until crispy as a plant-based alternative in tacos and sandwiches. For whole caps, allow a little longer on the heat and cook until golden brown to bring out the best flavour.
Oyster mushrooms are a natural source of B vitamins, potassium and antioxidants. Regular dietary intake of oyster mushrooms may support immune function and contribute to healthy cholesterol levels.
